Story
Lawrie Matthews ia an abstract painter, working principally with oils on board and canvas. Both large and smaller pieces.
During the last 30 years of his working life in materials innovation and entrepreneurship, Lawrie Matthews has experienced overwhelming highs and lows, symbolized perhaps perfectly by the turbulent, irresistible, but also beautiful forces of nature around us.
He employs oil on board and canvas, in both large and smaller sizes, to create stunning abstract paintings that express the power of the natural world and how it challenges our emotions. Drawing on specific physical experiences, such as coming all too close to a tornado in Arkansas and sailing in angry rolling seas off the west coast of France and Scotland, he contrasts these with the restorative tranquility found in Norfolk, particularly along the expansive beaches and huge skies of the North Norfolk coast.
His oil paintings are displayed in selected Norfolk holiday cottages, where the art gallery experience is brought to you.
